1:38p Herbie & Yoghund
One of the perks of working for yourself is that while it often feels like you've got the responsibility of the world on your shoulders, no one can stop you from leaving the office for a bit if you really need a break.
Today, we came home around noon to check on Herbie. (We're experimenting with *not* taking him into work because, while he's generally good, he's learned that if he barks his head off when I'm on the phone, I have no choice but to pick him up and hold him.) While Steve took care of several things around the house, Herbie and I went for a long walk--his first real adventure around the neighborhood. He loved it.
We checked out the new houses springing up around our street for a bit. Then we explored the neighborhood playground and water park. Occasionally, big dogs confined to backyards would bark at Herbie, causing him to cower behind me, so I'd pick him up until he felt comfortable trotting happily beside me again, his Dumbo-esque ears flapping in the breeze. :)
We made it all the way to my neighborhood's shopping center, a big, new outdoor mall area with a great movie theater that Steve and I know all too well. I considered taking Herbie into Petsmart, but he seemed tired, so we made the trek home.
Currently, he's snoozing on his bed in the playpen beside me.
In related news, some of you might remember when I posted about Yoghund on my site, News-Geek.com. Yoghund is a doggie ice cream treat that I found among human treats in the organic freezer section at my local grocery store. Here's a photo I took at the Shaw's in Porter Square:

No, I'm not buying this for Herbie. I mention it because of an interesting coincidence. When we returned from our walk, I received the following e-mail from the creators of Yoghund.
"Hello Rima, While doing reserach on our product I came across your website. You took a picture of Yoghund in your Grocery Story. We are located in Exeter, NH and are about to enter the world of social media with no experience. Would love to talk with you about multi-media and the Internet and if there may be an opportunity for our company to be used as a case study or project within your course. Would love to tell your our story and see if there may be an opportunity for us to work together. Regards, Cheryl Phoenix, President, Partner, Yoghund TBD Brands"
You know, I'd LOVE to help them out. Alas, I'm not teaching this semester. I'm hotel-ing. I would love to get back into university teaching eventually, though. :)
Anyway, that was my afternoon. How was yours?

It is really hard to go outside and rake leafs without bursting out laughing every 10 minutes.
Only 2 people will know the reason why.

10:28a EEEEEE PUPPY!
Meet Mac. He's Herbie's half-brother and about a week younger than our sweet little fur ball.
Mac needs a home, and words can't express how much I want to adopt him. He's an adorable piebald bundle of happiness! Alas, considering how much we work and considering how much time and attention a young puppy requires, bringing this little cutie into our lives is out of the question.
Of course, common sense does nothing to change the fact that I want him and that I want Herbie to have a playmate his own size.
Woe.

Nagamasa, Oichi, Hideyoshi, and Nene. Bah, only 4? Oh well. Yay Nene! She appears to have taken Nouhime's "less clothes = better" though >_> I'm actually kinda sad, I liked her orange thigh-highs. Nagamasa and Hideyoshi look pretty much the same, can't really pick out that much different about them. Sounds like Nene still has a "turn into other general" special, haha.
The other pages have some interesting stuff about equipment, looks like there's actually five equipment slots now. There's weapon of course (which again come in Normal, Power, and Speed varieties), there's armor which affects defense, gauntlets which affect horse skill as well as obtaining items, boots which affect speed, and saddle which makes you start with a horse. Interesting that they're branching out. I guess that's good, now you don't have to have a weapon with speed up (for instance), it'll be on the boots instead. Elements are of the usual fire/ice/lightning and Shura (one-hit kills) and Rekkuu (ignore defense) varieties.
Hey maiki! Veigue in Tales of Graces! LOL, that's random. I wonder if it's the arena. It doesn't really say. Also swimsuit costumes har har.
And the mystery Bamco RPG was, as I guessed, a Keroro Gunsou RPG for the DS.

1:00p CROSS POST
I'm not exactly jazzed by how the interview went. It's not that it was bad, but... Well...
Okay. So I get there a little late. That was my own mistake. I under-estimated how much time it would take me to get where I needed to be, because I forgot to account for early-morning traffic. Not the biggest fuck-up for the day, but still.
When I actually get to the office, I see that there's like, 5 other people sitting in the lobby, all of them dressed too well to be patients, and that takes me by surprise. "They scheduled 5 interviews for the day? That's weird." I'm thinking. But the lady behind the counter hands me a clipboard and tells me to sit down and fill out an application, so I do. Before I can actually get it finished, the lady behind the counter and this dude pull up two chairs and tell us that we're having a group interview. Something else I find weird.
Then they tell us to state our names and our experiences in holistic medicine. It's like a big reading circle, and everyone is talking about why they want to get into the field, and needless to say, everyone else had a better reason to be there than I did. "I practice dance! Chiropractic medicine has helped me!", "I'm a yoga instructor, blahblahblah", "I was a book-keeper for my husbands business and I'm a regular patient here!", "I want to get into medicine!", "I... once injured my back doing some work at odd jobs and had to visit a chiropractor...?" Basically, I felt like an idiot the whole time.
When we were done talking about why we were there, the dude, who is apparently a doctor, starts going on about how people are all sick these days because of modern medicine. He literally says, "You don't need SURGERY or MEDICATION to get better. You need EXERCISE and a GOOD ATTITUDE." I am trying so hard not to laugh but I'm staring him dead-on and he could surely see the smirk I'm trying to conceal. Pretty sure he didn't like that too much. When the group-interview portion is over, the girl behind the counter who was in the circle, who is also apparently a doctor, gives us a tour of the building.
As we're going room to room, I can't help but find it suspicious that all of their business signs/hours are written out in chalk. Like you couldn't at least afford to print some sheets out and get them laminated? But whatever. The lady doctor is explaining shit to all of us and she keeps harping on the yoga instructor, who, needless to say, is their favorite so far. Pretty sure she's getting the job.
Anyway, after the tour is done, we're all hustled out of the building with promises of call-backs to return for a second interview. Something I doubt I'll get, but am not entirely sure if that's a bad thing or not. I'm needlessly worried that I gave these people copies of my resume and filled out an application with all my personal information (like my social security number) but who knows if that's an entirely unfounded fear or not. I'm hoping it is.
With all that being said and done, I got a call from OFFICETEAM (thanks Radez ) who are looking to stick me into a local credit company to do some data-entry, which is great, and now I'm just waiting to hear back on that.
AND IN OTHER TOTALLY RELATED NEWS, I got a steam account and have Team Fortress 2 on my computer now, thanks to a friend. I want to play it tonight, and if anyone else is interested...
EDIT: Aaaaaaaannnd I didn't get the job. How surprising!

I guess there's supposed to be some major FFXIII info to be revealed on the 13th. Going to be via a special video and everything. Since this was only mentioned on the Western FFXIII sites, I'm going to assume it has to do with the Western release date(s), as the JP one is already known. Rumors put it as by April of '10, so there won't be too much of a delay. I'm still sure as hell playing it next month though.
Next batch of Sengoku Musou 3 characters should be announced this week, since this site will be revealing the last two SD figurines this Friday. Come onnnnnn Okuni and Nene!
